Grapefruit Spoons and Knife ($12)

I really love grapefruits but every time I eat them, I end up with sticky juice sprayed all over the place. And most of the grapefruit is wasted because you can't actually get at it. I used to think that grapefruit spoons were very elitist and silly. Now I think they are essential. This set comes with four and includes an excellent knife that makes cutting it super easy! Yay! Grapefruit!

Pink Revolver Shaped Screwdriver ($40)

This is pretty bad-bottom if you know what I mean. It actually works, has 6 different drill bits, and looks like a pink revolver! Also, it has a rechargeable battery. Awesome house warming gift or a whatever gift.

Deep Bath Water Plug ($10)

Awww ... . .baths . . . . . . Now you can fill your bath up even fuller, this 'overrides' the safety drain built into tubs. It creates a seal around the drain, so you can fill it all the way to the top. Be careful when you leave your tub to fill up, because it will overflow with this! All this bath talk has made me hungry for a bath! Talk to you later, friends!

USB Man ($3)

Computers never have enough USB ports - so get this fun little USB man and never fear! Apparently it's not good for charging multiple things because the power gets split, but great for hooking it all up! Cool Techie gift!

Make-your-own Music Box ($17)

Create your own music box! It comes with Happy Birthday, but comes with blank sheets and a punch so you can make your own tune and have it play it for you! Music boxes are so whimsical and the idea that you can make your own song is awesome.
Hey! You! Hopeless romantic! Wouldn't it be an awesome way to propose if you put "Here comes the bride" in it and had her play it? Yeah, awesome.

Compact Pepper Spray ($7)

I know this seems like a weird thing to put on The Nifty Gifter, but sadly we live in dangerous times and I think it is essential for all girls to have one of these when walking alone. A lot of sad stories could have been avoided if everyone had pepper spray. This is small, compact, pink and is a key-chain. I carried one with me all the time when I lived in LA and it made me feel much safer. While it's not the most romantic of gifts, I think it is a very thoughtful one - and one that could save someone's life.

Head Massager ($4)

I have one of these at home, and I literally want to purr and sleep and smile when my sister rubs my head with it. It seems simple, but it just feels soooooo good and relaxing. So I don't know what it's doing, pressure points or zen or energy zones or what, but it feels awesome and cures many-a-headache.

"Wonder" Hanger ($9)

I could always use a little extra room in my closet. It is always too full! This is such a great idea. There is always more room up and down, than there is side to side - so you can hang all your short items on this and save some space!

What a great idea! Personally I'm not a big hat person, but I know people that certainly have a lot and this would be a great gift for them. Keeps them easily accessible, organized and displayed nicely. You always wear things more often when you can actually see everything you have.
More importantly, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! Thanks for reading my blog, you guys are great!

Banana Slicer ($5)

This is one of those gifts that you would probably never buy yourself, but would use all the time if you had one. (Ahem, *cough*iwouldlikeone*cough*)
So, I think that makes it perfect for my blog, because we all want one, but know it's silly to buy! Indulge your friends!

P.S. Merry Christmas Eve, friends!

"Man" Desk Accessory Holder ($12)

This made me laugh! And it's actually useful. The 'tank' will hold a post-it pad. His mouth holds a pen. And he holds a tape roll. Also, his rear end is a magnet so you can put paper clips in the 'bowl' and pick them up. What fun! A conversation piece for sure and a great gag-gift! Merry Christmas Eve to you!

Mustache Wine Markers ($6)

Pretty self explanatory. Wine. Mustache. Win. They are re-useable and stick well to glasses. Less 'girly' than wine charms and don't jingle around as you're trying to drink!

Smart Ass Trivia Game ($18)

This game just looks fun. I like games. And I like trivia games. This one got really great reviews because it only lasts about 30 minutes, (3 hour Trivial Pursuit, anyone?). Also, each clue gives out a few different clues and people call out the answers as they guess it. You can only guess once, so it gives everyone a fair chance. Anyway, check it out at Amazon and see what you think. Looks like a fun game!

Corner Tool Rack ($30)

When I saw this - I thought, "Duh!" Every garage needs this. We all have the 'junk' corner where various things are leaning precariously. This solves the problem! It has slots for up to 30 tools. It might not be a very glamorous gift, but you can't say it isn't useful!

Rotating Earring Stand ($15)

I have this, and it's been one of my favorite purchases. It keeps all of my earrings well organized and I actually wear a lot more of them now, because I can see them all! Much better than having them all thrown in a little jar. I highly recommend this, and it would be a great gift to any girl you know!

Nighty Night Nursing Light ($25)

While I am far from being a mom (Like not-even-in-a-relationship far), I thought this looked really neat. It provides a soft light that won't wake up dad or make your pupils go 'WAAHHH!'. It also has a timer and will vibrate at the end so if you fall asleep while nursing, it'll wake you up. They suggest you wear it to bed so you remember what side you nursed from last and don't have to search for it in the night. Again, I'm not really sure why this caught my eye, but if you know any new moms - here is a Nifty Gift!

Ham Dogger ($12)

Have ground beef in the fridge, but only hot dog buns? Never fear! Turn your ground beef into hot dogs! Coolness. Made with plastic, so washes easily. Good for kids. Heck, good for everyone. Who doesn't like a ham-dog? :)

7 Year Pen ($9)

These fancy pens have enough ink to write 1.7 meters a day for 7 years. That. Is. A. Long. Time.
Honestly, I'm not sure if I could keep a pen for 7 years, but the idea is really nice, and I always like to have a reliable pen in my purse.

Travel Steamer ($23)

I am lazy. When it comes to certain things. Like ironing. I've always liked the idea of having a steamer, but they are expensive and bulky. I do anything to avoid ironing. (Usually just pretending the wrinkles aren't as bad as I think) This is a travel version, just 10 inches tall. But it heats up fast and will get out those troublesome wrinkles. I think I'll have to get one for myself. Merry Christmas to me!

Grocery bag handle ($10)

According to my dad, I am the One Trip Wonder when it comes to grocery bags (or anything really). I will come in with my fingers purple from strangulation and divots in my arms that take hours to go away. This bad boy will hold up to 70 pounds in groceries and is small enough to go in your purse (or man satchel.) This pack comes with four so a couple for you and a couple to give away. Sadly plastic bags have been banned in my neck of the woods, so I can't enjoy this Nifty Gift.
So please! Let me live vicariously through you! Enjoy!

Lasso Rope Wine Holder ($15)

I don't know how this works, but reviews have confirmed that it actually does. And it looks awesome and magical and cool. Now you have a more unique gift idea for the wine-o in your life besides just a bottle of wine!

Guitar Rest ($6)

This grippy rest sits on any surface and creates a safe place to lean your guitar. It is a scary, scary sight when a guitar leaned against a table sloooowly starts to slide, and then crash to the floor before you can catch it. This is a perfect thing to have at home, or to throw in your guitar case so you have an instant 'stand' wherever you are. Also, handy to have a place to keep your picks. Great stocking stuffer or gift for the music lover in your life.

'Knuckle Lights' for Running ($40)

A TNG reader recommendation - these are a bit hard to explain, but I'll do my best and I encourage you to check out the website. This bright lights strap to your hands and illuminate the path in front of you. Because they actually strap on, apparently it's very comfortable and not like something you have to hold on to. Also, they have wide beams of lights so it doesn't bounce as you run. Keep safe while running. See and be seen! Check them out!

Mockingjay Pin ($6) and Necklace ($15)

I usually try not to get all hyped up in the 'fandom' of anything. But Hunger Games is pretty rad and the Mockingjay represents some great ideas. This is a great gift for yourself or the Hunger Games fan in your life. (I'm sure you know at least ten!) I think you can even pull these things off without looking like a crazy, mega fan (not that there's anything wrong with that!).

Business Card File Cabinet ($12)

This mini file cabinet fits all of your business cards in it and has dividers to alphabetize. It holds up to 800 cards, and has a little digital clock on the front also. I would say this is cool/different/useful for obvious reasons so I'll just leave it at that. Happy Gifting!

Camera Lens Mug ($17)

I'll admit that I've seen this a few times before, but I still think it would be a pretty cool gift for a photography lover. This has a stainless steel interior - so it's actually safe, clean and useful. It has a proper lid, so it can be used in the car. I guess it's not officially licensed, so it says Canaim instead of Canon, but to me, that's not a real downer. I think it's awesome, and for under $20 - a great, unique gift.

Thursday, December 13, 2012

Solar Powered Flashlight and Battery Pack for Electronics ($25)

This unit charges either through a USB cable or by sunlight. It can be used as a flashlight or to charge electronics that use a USB cable. Apparently the flashlight is pretty awesome and can be used as a lantern also. It did get charged by the sun, but not to it's full capacity - but good enough for trips or emergencies. (Maybe not here in the Pacific Northwest. Sun? What's that?) This gift could cover many people in your life, the hiker/camper, the tech gadget geek, and also that one friend who is ready for the world to end on December 21st.

Collapsible Silicone Lunch Box ($15)

If you know someone who's into being 'green', (not you, Kermit) then this is a great gift idea. Made out of silicone, collapses down when you are done with it, and wait for it, here's the kicker, it has a spork that snaps into the lid. Who doesn't love a spork? While not actually functional as a spoon or a fork, it is still widely loved by all Americans :) Reviews claim that it is not water tight, but good for a sandwich or some leftovers.

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Corkatoo ($13)

Corkatoo. . . . HA! Corkscrew. Cockatoo. Corkatoo. Brilliant. When I one day move into an adult style living establishment, I hope someone gives me this as a house warming gift. Practical, cute, and fun to say.

Bendable Power Strip ($30)

These days it seems like you can never use all of the power outlets on a power strip because each plug-in is so bulky. This clever power strip bends around so that each ginormous plug has plenty of room to . . . be ginormous. Perfect for your gadget-y friends!

What a Nifty Gift for a traveler! It's a travel size map that you can scratch off the places where you've been. What a cool idea!

Nail Polish Rack ($27)

Organize all of your nail polish! Feel like you are at the salon in your own home. This takes up no room, you can attach it to a door or wall and lets you see all of your different colors. This holds 90 bottles - holy smokes! This is the best way to display and store your nail polish!

Glass Bowl that looks like a Plastic Bag ($20)

This nifty bowl looks like an open plastic bag, but is actually a hand-blown glass bowl. This would be a unique house-warming gift, or for Christmas! Put a few homemade cookies in it to make it extra special.

Folding Cutting Board / Colander ($10)

Okay, please click the picture to get to Amazon and see all the awesome pictures of what this can do. It's pretty much origami. Fold it into a triangle thing and use as a colander or it makes a nice little ramp to pour whatever you've cut into a bowl or pot. It's like a zillion-in-one.
I hate it when you perfectly dice some carrots and then you go to put them in the salad bowl, frantically herding the pieces with your one spare hand only to have half of your carrot pieces end up on the floor. Ditto for washing things on a cutting board. I try to barricade the pieces with my child-size hands and most pieces end up in the sink. As you can tell, I struggle often and I feel like this cutting board was made just for me. But I won't be greedy, maybe it was made for you, too! Or someone you know!

Scarf Hanger ($8)

Scarves are all the rage right now, and although this thing seems very logical, I doubt very many people have one. Personally I have all my scarves hung over one hanger and when I pull one off, you guessed it, they all fall off. So I guess the current situation is really that my scarves are all on the floor in my closet. This scarf hanger looks fun, practical and would be a great stand-alone gift, or would make be a perfect addition to giving a scarf!

Wine Aerator ($15)

When the stress of life and school and work consumes me, it is nice to relax with a glass of wine (or four). Alas, it is not in my budget to buy nice bottles of wine, and I would look like a fool trying to find one. "Ahhh, yes, Chateau De Monsier Bijoujou, 1998, great year for grapes." This is how it really goes, "Wow, this Trader Joe wine is $5 and won "Trader Joe's Best Wine" award. I'll take it. Anyway, long story short(er), this wine aerator puts air in the wine somehow using some vacuum action, and also lets you pour easily with no dribbly drips. Reviews claim that this makes good wine great. Sounds good to me. So get one of these to fool all of your house guests and your taste buds . . . .
