This unit charges either through a USB cable or by sunlight. It can be used as a flashlight or to charge electronics that use a USB cable. Apparently the flashlight is pretty awesome and can be used as a lantern also. It did get charged by the sun, but not to it's full capacity - but good enough for trips or emergencies.
